Bronchoscopy

A day case procedure. Whilst sedated, a flexible tube with a light and camera is passed via the nose or mouth into the airways. This can be for diagnostic and treatment purposes and takes 20-40 minutes.

Pleural Procedures

When fluid collects around the lung it is sometimes necessary to drain a small or larger quantity for diagnosis and treatment. This may be combined with a biopsy of the pleura. The procedure last 30 to 45 minutes. Local anaesthetic is used.

Diagnostic Sleep Studies

A diagnostic or treatment overnight sleep study may be arranged either in a laboratory setting or at home at the discretion of your treating specialist. This will help to diagnose and manage sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea, restless legs, insomnia or narcolepsy.
